Surgical Visits

At OPVMC, we perform routine, specialty, and emergency surgery.

Since admission times vary, you will be provided a time by a client services representative when scheduling your pet’s surgery.  Because we are open 24-hours, we can work with you to accommodate your busy schedule.

Upon admitting your pet in to the hospital for surgery, you will be asked to sign an estimate provided by your pet’s veterinarian.  Depending on the procedure a deposit may also be required upon admission.

Discharge times may vary due to the type of surgery being performed.  While some procedures require the patient to stay overnight, most routine surgeries allow for the pet to be released the same day.  Your pet’s doctor will call you upon completion to give you an update as well as to arrange a discharge time.  When you arrive to pick up your pet from the hospital, you will be directed by client services to the check-out counter.  Here you will receive written instructions for post-surgical and home care for your pet.  You will also be asked to pay your pet’s bill.  You will then meet with either the doctor who performed the surgery or a technician who is familiar with your pet’s case.  They will give you instruction on home care, any food or medication that has been prescribed to your pet, and address any questions that you may have, and you and your pet will be on your way!
