Minimum requirements for licensed positions:

 

Veterinarian:  The candidate must have a current New York State license or be license eligible, and have a minimum of two years experience. New graduates may apply and will be considered.  The candidate must have a good understanding of the human animal bond and want to work in highly client/patient-focused multi-doctor environment.  Our veterinarians are encouraged to increase their knowledge base by experience and continuing education.   Doctors rounds are offered every weekday for case review. As leaders of the medical team, candidates must demonstrate strong leadership skills, superior medical knowledge and surgical skill.  Candidates must show that they are flexible to change,are team oriented, and have good independent time management skills.  We offer each a schedule with varied caseload consisting of community practice, referral crisis patients and emergency opportunities on a regular schedule.  Full-Time work schedules are generally 4-5 days per week and may contain   day, evening, weekend, shifts.  Emergency/overnight shift schedules are regularly offered.  No on-call shifts or unscheduled overnights.

Licensed Veterinary Technician must have a current New York State license or be license eligible.  We recommend a minimum of two years experience, but new graduates may apply and will be considered.  The candidate must be willing to work in a departmentalized hospital but be willing to be cross trained in all areas. Our technical staff are encouraged to use all expertise with a varied caseload of patients and rotating assignments everyday in a fast paced, rewarding environment. Good time management skills are a must, as well as flexibility to change in a constantly evolving environment.  We recruit those with strong people skills, good leadership abilities, great technical skills with the confidence to use them.. Our technicians work a 4 or 5 day week  and cover day, overnight, and weekend shifts as an integral part of our medical team.

Current positions open include the following:

LICENSED VETERINARY TECHNICIAN: LVT needed for day and some evening shifts, FT, PT, experience preferred but will consider new graduates.  Position entails direct nursing care of hospitlaized patients and laboratory work.  We are seeking an applicant to work part time in our on-site laboratory and part-time in patient care.  Applicant will be performing laboratory testing, recording and reporting results as well as caring for our hospitlaized patients.  Duties may include surgery, x-ray, triage of  emergency patients upon arrival, and office assistance for check-in and check-out may be required when client services staff members are assisting others.  Our technicians use all their skills and are truly a part of the medical team as well as advocating  for their patients. For new graduates,(and those new to OPVMC)  training and mentoring is supplied by experienced staff as long as needed to build confidence in skills needed.   Benefits inlcude: paid training, health insurance, 401K, flexible scheduling, CE, paid professional dues, and paid time off.  Resumes are welcome, but also please fill out the application at the bottom of this page and fax (1-800 284-0306), email to mkaufman@opvmc.net  or mail in,  attention: Melissa Kaufman, LVT .                                                                              Posted 12/7/2009


HOSPITAL ASSISTANT -Assistant needed in our in-house full Laboratory  for a Full Time/Part Time  position. Applicant must be detail oriented, flexible, and will be responsible to work in a laboratory environment performing non-laboratory duties.  Position duties include answering phone for internal communication, external client requests, data entry, inventory management, lab test equipment set-up and light housekeeping.  Good communications needed as well as some computer experience desired.  Position consists of fixed hours and may include a weekend shift, holiday and vacation coverage.  Position may also include some direct patient (dogs, cats, other pets)  care outside of laboratory, at times.
